Janie and Gabe first met at Georgia Tech, where they both were a part of the campus ministry, RUF. However, it wasn’t until they ended up in CS 1371: Computing for Engineers, that they got to know each other. Initially just studying together for class, they eventually started going to GT basketball games and eating breakfast together in the dining halls. After a long talking period and summer break, they went on their first date. They officially became boyfriend and girlfriend on September 3rd, 2022 during a date at Anticos Pizza, their favorite pizza place in Atlanta.

In the next year, they had many firsts. Janie took Gabe on his first rollercoaster ride at Six Flags; which he didn’t realize would be so tall! They went to their first Georgia Tech football game together, cheering the white and gold! They shared a first kiss at the Ferris wheel in Centennial Park. They also began going to church together at Westside Atlanta. Lastly, they had to say their first goodbye when Janie went to study abroad in France. This distance and time zone difference only made their love stronger, and Janie surprised Gabe by coming back early, and jumping out from behind a column at the Midtown Moe's as he was walking home.

As they went through school together, Janie and Gabe supported each other through the ups and downs and continued to fall more in love as they got to know each other better. After a difficult four years of school at Georgia Tech, Janie and Gabe both graduated together. Gabe applied for graduate schools, while Janie looked for a job as a chemical engineer. Thanks to God, both of their best options aligned in the same location; Gabe received a fellowship at Virginia Tech meanwhile Janie got a job as a Process Engineer at Celanese Corp. just nearby.

While they both knew that they wanted to get married, and Janie was expecting a proposal at anytime, Gabe kept his plans a surprise, with plenty of "counterintelligence" measures to keep Janie guessing. Janie and Gabe went to lunch at Mountain Lake Lodge, the location where they filmed Dirty Dancing, and then enjoyed a short hike of Bald Knob. At the top, Gabe proposed! Janie said yes and they celebrated the rest of the day with friends and family who had come up to surprise her. Since then, they have enjoyed exploring Southwest Virginia and wedding planning.
